Your Engagement Session Matters!

Your engagement session is a great time to get to know the photographer who will be capturing your wedding. It allows you to get more comfortable in front of the camera and find out what makes you feel comfortable and confident. A lot of couples have no idea that they don't like a specific pose or love another one, even though it looks cute on their Pinterest boards. The reality is, each couple is unique and just because you found an inspo photo you like doesn't mean that its going to be your favorite photo of you. With that here are some tips and tricks for styling your engagement session in a way that reflects you and your unique relationship with your future spouse!

Tip #1

Wear things you feel comfortable in!

Wearing something you feel comfortable and confident in is so so important! It is easier to love your photos when you love what you are wearing. If you are not a dress girlie, there is no shame in wearing pants. Some people love dressing up for their engagement session, but you definitely don't have to!

Tip #2

Think about location!

The location of your engagement session should absolutely influence what you wear. Jeans and boots: Amazing if you have a family horse farm and want to take pictures in a pasture on your land! A black dress and heels: amazing for a downtown urban location. Location doesn't just impact the vibe of what you wear, it can also influence the props that we use to create a scene (if that is something you want to do)

Tip #3

Props are Fun!

You are always welcome to bring props to your engagement session that reflect you and your relationship together. Some people love picnics so they bring a blanket and some cute snacks, other people love vintage cameras and choose to bring them, other people love hats, or want to do a champagne pop. The possibilities are ENDLESS for what you could bring (and I am happy to give out a list of ideas if you want me to!)

Tip #4

Trust your Photographer

I want you to LOVE your photos with all of your heart. My goal is always to capture you as beautifully and authentically as possible. When you trust me, it allows me to be creative and find new and unique ways to photograph your relationship! With the experience that comes with being a photographer, I might ask you to do something that sounds weird, but it will look super cool! (you can always say no to a suggestion that is outside of your comfort zone or boundaries with no judgement <3 <3 <3)
